Job Description

The Network Administrator provides a key role in the strategic direction, and tactical implementation of our LAN/WAN environment. Provides network architecture and security design and deployment. Administers moves, adds and changes functions for all supported network services. Supports server, desktop, notebook, thin client, and any other platforms deployed by CDS


Responsibilities:

Provide strategic direction in network, hardware, and software consistent with the organization’s goals in serving our internal customers.  The candidate will support our in-house systems and ensure all are consistent with the latest technology and revision levels.

Responsible for providing administration, security and support of the LAN/WAN, Internet/VPN, Firewall, Mail Server, application servers, and file/print services.

Manage software license activities to ensure compliance with vendor agreements, copyright laws and other regulations. Follow-up with vendor communications, procurement, installations, repairs and upgrades when needed. Assist in planning for controlled growth & logical implementation of network environment, hardware & software. Provide assistance to other Systems Administrators and I.S. personnel. Aggressively pursues process improvements.

    •    Support our remote strategy (Co-Lo) and applications.
    •    Help Desk Support for all CDS Employees, with high priority to on-site employees.
    •    Management of remote monitoring and notification software.
    •    Available for 24x7 on-call support as required.


Qualifications:

Must have excellent organizational and customer service skills; attention to detail and analytical abilities are a must.  Individual must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.  Individual must have excellent interpersonal and leadership skills required to interact with clients, account managers, registration managers, and others at all management levels.  Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and perform multiple tasks simultaneously within tight time constraints. Some travel may be required.

Technical Sills Required:

    •    Excellent interpersonal skills with strong verbal and written communication skills.
    •    Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    •    Technical knowledge: TCP/IP, Internet, VPN and Network Security,  MRTG or like
            tools, Routers, Firewalls, aggregators, switches, etc.
    •    Server hardware/software configuration and maintenance under:, Windows 200X,
            and other Operating Systems, (.NET) as required.
    •    Application configuration and administration for: MS Exchange, SOPHOS
            Anti-Spam/Virus, MS Internet Information
    •    Server (IIS), MS SQL Server in a clustered environment is highly desirable, and
            other applications as required.
    •    Strong problem-solving capabilities that includes following consistent troubleshooting
            methodologies in all areas of the network computing structure.
    •    Professional Certification, MCSE, MCP, preferred.
